Aminophylline anhydrous is one of our products. Aminophylline is a bronchodilator drug combination, that contains theophylline and ethylenediamine. Aminophylline anhydrous is more soluble in water than theophylline. It is a kind of white or slightly yellowish granule or powder, having a slight ammoniacal odor, and a bitter taste. Upon exposure to air, aminophylline anhydrous gradually loses ethylenediamine, and absorbs carbon dioxide with the liberation of free theophylline. Its solution is alkaline. It is most commonly used in the treatment of bronchial asthma. It results in bronchodilatation, diuresis, and CNS & cardiac stimulation. It also causes gastric acid secretion by means of blocking phosphodiesterase which increases tissue concentrations of cyclic adenine monophosphate, which in turn promotes catecholamine stimulation of lipolysis, glycogenolysis, and gluconeogenesis. It induces release of epinephrine from cells of the adrenal medulla.
