Paraformaldehyde is widely used for manufacturing various resins with phenol. It is a white crystalline solid formed by polymerization of formaldehyde. Paraformaldehyde reacts with phenol, urea, melamine or resorcinol to produce resins, which are used as binders in plywood and particle boards. Methylene chloride is a colorless volatile fluid with sweet aroma. It is immensely used as a solvent. Methylene chloride is miscible with other organic solvents. It is used as solvent for cellulose acetate, photo-resist, and tablet film coatings.
