These films can be washed with water, and will not permanently stain skin, natural fibers, or hard surfaces. It is easy to use because it is soluble in water as well as in organic solvents such as alcohols. PVP-iodine can be used in powders, tablets, solutions, lotions, ointments, creams or sprays. Crospovidone is a synthetic, insoluble, but rapidly swellable homopolymer of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone.
