Acid cleaners used in the food processing industry are cleaning solutions used primarily to remove mineral salts, rust, water scale, hard water deposits, soap buildup, and some proteins. They are also used to neutralize alkaline rinses. Acid washes also find use in processing fruits, vegetables, and greens. We use hydrochloric, nitric, glycolic, citric, sulfamic, phosphoric and muriatic acids as acid cleaners. Surfactants and emulsifiers are added to aid in breaking up oily or protein deposits. Acid cleaners are formulated for use in manual applications, soaking & dipping, and also for circulating use in clean in place equipment.
