Profile: Buffalo Tungsten Inc. is a manufacturer and supplier of high purity tungsten powder. We also produce tungsten carbide powder and tungsten carbide thermal spray powders. Our agglomerated, sintered materials provide dense, hard surface coatings with excellent wear properties at low temperatures (<500 C). They are normally applied with a plasma high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) spray gun. Alternate compositions are used to achieve properties necessary for various applications. A common powder is 88% tungsten carbide and 12% cobalt, which is sometimes referred to as 88-12 or 88WC 12Co. Nickel and chromium are also used in standard powders, with additional compositions available upon request. Tungsten carbide based thermal spray coatings are frequently used to replace plating techniques as a surface treatment.
